Making sure that the company keeps a good record only takes a few clicks in the Federal Motor Carrier Administration Website. But how would you know from there that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.movingplace.net\/moving-tips\/choosing-a-moving-company.php\">moving company<\/a> are legit and have good reputations?  Just make sure that the following are indicated in the website.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The name, phone number, address of moving companies should be present, and should correspond with information given to clients.<\/li>\n<li>The number of power units (trucks) and drivers should also correspond with what the moving service says.<\/li>\n<li>The \u201cOut of Service\u201d field should indicate \u201cno.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>The following should also be marked with X:<\/li>\n<p>\u201cAuth. for Hire\u201d under \u201cOperation Classification\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cInterstate\u201d under \u201cCarrier Operation\u201d if it is an interstate move<br \/>\n\u201cHousehold Goods\u201d under \u201cCargo Carried\u201d<\/p>\n<li>The \u201cSafety Rating\u201d section should have a \u201cSatisfactory\u201d result<\/li>\n<li>Do the following steps:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Go to the bottom of the webpage<\/li>\n<li>Click the FMCSA Licensing and Insurance link<\/li>\n<li>Go to View Details and look for the \u201cMotor Carrier Details\u201d page which may either   be under the \u201cReport\u201d or \u201cHTML\u201d button.<\/li>\n<li>Look for the \u201cCommon\u201d, \u201cContract\u201d, and \u201cBroker\u201d listings under \u201cAuthority Type\u201d<\/li>\n<li>One of the listings should be indicated as active in the \u201cAuthority Status\u201d and \u201cNo\u201d should be indicated in \u201cApplication Pending\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Scroll down and look for \u201cHousehold Goods\u201d This should be marked with \u201cYes\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Look for the bottom table which shows insurance information.  Bodily injury and property damage (BIPD) insurance with a minimum 750,000 should be filed. Cargo insurance should also be indicated with a \u201cYes\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Finally, ask the secretary of state for other charges filed against the company.
