Choose Moving Services Using the ProMover Service of AMSA

Choose moving services using the ProMover service of the American Moving and Storage Association.

The AMSA ProMover service allows you to get free quotes from six moving companies that service your area while ensuring that any personal information you provide is kept secure and safe. The ProMover service also refers you only to moving companies that are ProMover-certified.

The ProMover certification program was launched by AMSA in January this year to protect consumers from rogue operators and to clean up the moving industry which has been targeted by swindlers out to make easy money.

Membership in ProMover has been made more stringent. Before any moving company is certified, AMSA reviews if the company, owners, officers or key stockholders have felony convictions arising from matters supervised by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration or the Surface Transportation Board. AMSA also examines company ownership and registration with state corporation commissions and reviews the company’s website for deceptive advertising.

Additionally, every member signs a contract to commit to adhere to STB and FMSCA regulations and to the AMSA Code of Ethics.

As AMSA represents the moving industry and holds itself responsible for ensuring that moving services provide excellent service at reasonable prices, AMSA ensures that the ProMover logo will only be used by certified moving companies.

To encourage moving companies to achieve excellence in their operations, AMSA also grants annual awards for best performances. If you like to take a look at some of the moving companies that have won awards so you can consider them in your search for a moving company to hire, visit the AMSA or ProMover website.

Some recent winners were Wheaton Van Lines whose CEO Steve Burns won the 2008 Lifetime Achievement Award; Executive Moving Systems of Virginia, which won the 2008 top independent moving company award; Graebel Saint Louis Movers, which won the 2008 van operator rookie award; and Mayflower Transit, which won the over-60-million-miles category in the Fleet Safety Awards. Bekins Van Lines and Mayflower agents VIP Transport and All American Moving Group also won van operator awards.

Mayflower Transit also topped the J.D. Power customer satisfaction survey for full-service moving firms in 2009. It scored 831 out of a perfect score of 1,000 because of its excellent performance in shipping estimation, packing, loading, transportation, insurance valuation and unloading.

If you have names of moving services in mind, go ahead and check if they are members of AMSA or have ProMover certifications.
